I was asked by one of my cousins four boys to make him a skylander cake for his birthday party. What he got I think was more then any of them expected.
Below show the steps I took to create the base. I started with a sketched out idea then took 3 different cakes to create the basic land formations. The mountain in the background was made from marshmallow/rice crispy mix, then covered with grey colour icing to create a rock look. Raw sugar was used to create the beige pathways and green icing was used for the grass and blue for the water stream. The fences are built from chocolate cookie fingers and the bridges ar kit-kat bars.
After creating the landscape I them turned my focus to the characters needed for the game. Since there are four boys in the family I choose to create four characters, one for each of them and them scatter some other characters around the cake. The characters are all completely edible, made from home made marshmallow fondant and then I hand sculpted each character.
Below is the final result. I am very proud of this adventure.
